Remco started his PMO career in 2000 and has since then adopted many roles in the field. Currently Remco works as a self-employed consultant[1] where he supports organizations with the organization and smooth running of their project and portfolio management processes.
Remco te Winkel has become a trusted name in the field of project management and organizational improvement. Early years
Te Winkel’s professional path began in difficult circumstances but steadily progressed as he honed his expertise in project management and organizational change. After gaining foundational experience at a major consultancy, he joined a large insurance company as a project bureau manager. Leading a team of 50 professionals with a significant project portfolio, te Winkel developed a deep understanding of organizational processes and leadership.
However, after being nominated for a management program, he realized he preferred staying close to content and hands-on organizational change rather than pursuing a managerial trajectory. This epiphany led him to establish his own consultancy business, where he applies his innovative methodologies to help organizations thrive.
Current work
He combines a good understanding of the theory with a strong hands-on mentality. He is a regular speaker on conferences and organizer of workshops on PMO related topics.Te Winkel is the author of Lenig – Een verhaal over Lean en Agile, a business novel that simplifies complex methodologies like Kanban, Theory of Constraints, and WSJF through storytelling. Inspired by the works of Eliyahu Goldratt, the book bridges the gap between knowledge and understanding, making advanced concepts accessible to a wider audience.
He also frequently contributes to professional blogs and articles, sharing insights on methodologically agnostic approaches, organizational flow, and the strategic application of Lean and Agile principles. Remco joined The PMO Leader in 2021 as Ambassador for The Netherlands. Later he became Ambassador Lead for the EMEA region. In 2023 he joined the advisory Board of The PMO Leader.[4]

Personal Life
Remco lives in The Netherlands in the town of Kampen. His hobbies include photography, playing Go and flying on his flight simulator. Born with a passion for learning, te Winkel spent much of his childhood immersed in books, particularly inspired by the works of Isaac Asimov. This early love for knowledge shaped his intellectual curiosity and eventual career in consulting. However, his academic journey was not without challenges. He struggled with disengagement during high school and repeated his fifth year. Later, at university, personal and financial setbacks interrupted his studies, forcing him to enter the workforce during a challenging economic period.
Despite his demanding career, te Winkel remains grounded, valuing personal growth and resilience. His early life experiences instilled in him a belief in perseverance and the importance of learning from failure. These lessons continue to influence both his personal and professional journey.
