Converging Worlds: Enhancing PMO Practices through global business-academic partnerships

The PMO Leader recognizes the vital role of academia in shaping the future of PMO practices.

Feedback from our advisory board accentuates a glaring absence: collaboration with universities and the broader academic realm. Instances of successful PMO-University partnerships exist, yet they remain localized and under-publicized.

The focus of our activities in 2024 is to bridge the current gap between PMO professionals and academic institutions, aiming to build mutually beneficial relationships.

From some early conversations between members and the our Universities we have identified five target areas:

•       Seeking out and sharing success stories where the business-university links are working well

•       Seeking and sharing PMO research - defining the focus of topics in the area of PMOs

•       Seeking out approaches on how to make academic work more business-friendly - Insights: PMO academic papers

•       Increasing awareness between academia and business – discussion forums and global local networks

•       A bridge for students – from qualification to work experience (internships)
